Update DEC 2023: I’m currently not available for any new commissions until waiting list is cleared/delivered. Apologize for the inconvenience caused and please follow me on Instagram where I’d update my availability asap, thank you!
Photograph
I work primarily in colored pencil and pastels. My pet portrait commissions are mostly created from photographs. In order to provide a lifelike presentation of your loved one, a high-resolution photo with natural lighting is required, ideally at eye level with full inclusion of the drawing object. The better quality the photos, the more detailed the drawing. You can send several photos and we can work together to decide on the best one.
Tips and Tricks of taking photos
Try taking photo from the same level (eye level) as your pet. Overhead view or look up view will not work well.
Hold your camera physically as close as possible to your pet and hold still.
Especially if you are taking the photo with phone camera, hold the phone closer to your pet instead of pinching or zooming in from your phone screen.
Close up shot of full face (with both ears in the picture– not blocked by other objects) and bit of neck/body is perfect – if you take the full body picture, it means your pet is too far away from the camera.
Better not use selective focus or any blur mode; capturing as much details on your pet and it’s background is important.
Balanced Natural day light is preferable – try to take it by a daylight window. When it’s darker, the camera takes longer to stabilize, and you will lose details in shadows.
When it is outside – try not take photos directly under the sunshine, so it will not overexpose.
If your pet has sadly passed away, please get in touch and send through as many photos as possible, I am happy to work my best with you to a feasible solution.
